About
Luminous tone, fearless musicality.
Violinist, Gold Medalist of the 2020 Michael Hill International Violin Competition, and a graduate of Curtis and Juilliard.
Behind the Bow

Praised for her luminous tone and fearless musicality, violinist Aria Volenne is one of the most compelling voices of her generation.
A graduate of the Curtis Institute of Music and The Juilliard School, she built her international profile with a Gold Medal win at the Michael Hill International Violin Competition.
Moving fluidly between core repertoire and contemporary works, Aria brings an intensity that draws audiences in from the first note — collaborating with leading ensembles while championing the music that first drew her to the instrument.
In Her Own Words
“I fell in love with the violin because it sounds like someone thinking out loud. On stage I’m listening for the moment a phrase stops being notes and becomes a sentence. When that happens, the hall goes quiet in a different way, and that silence is what I play for.”

The Instrument
Aria performs on a violin made by Giovanni Battista Guadagnini in Milan around 1753, on generous loan from Foundation Name. Its dark, focused lower register and singing upper voice suit both the Romantic concertos and the new works she commissions.
